Ever considered biking the circumference of Lac Léman (180 kilometres) in a day? How about for a good cause? Sunday was the Bike the Lake event here in Switzerland, of which, Media Frontier is a proud sponsor. Not only did Media Frontier design the hats for the riders but a few team members even joined in the “fun”!
This year close to 80 people participated. It was a gorgeous sunny day to enjoy the beauty of Lac Léman, albeit toasty at 32 degrees. This was the 11th edition of the event, which has over the years raised nearly CHF70,000 for educational projects in Nepal.
At Media Frontier we’ve got more than just digital chops! Three of our team members joined in on the ride. Even though our graphic designer Juliette had a crash only 40km into the ride, she powered through and finished the remaining 140km with a wounded leg! Another rider broke a spoke on her wheel just 35km shy of the finish line and was very disappointed to have to finish the last leg in the support truck instead of on her own two wheels. But despite these exciting events, and one group taking a slight “detour”, the feedback was all positive. In fact, the top comment from the MF team? Fantastic sandwich lunch stop in Vevey (priorities)! The event has great atmosphere, is very supportive, and welcomes riders of all levels.
For more information visit their Facebook Group. It’s a fun event. If you’re in Switzerland or neighbouring France, you should join in next year or support one of the riders for a good cause!
Bike the Lake is an informal, social, charity cycle ride for fit cyclists who want to cycle around Lake Geneva in one day.
Bike the Lake has raised over CHF60,000 for charities over the last 10 years and this year it would be great if we could beat
CHF10,000- let’s see what we can do together!
