The ultimate design event in Geneva has just passed and it did not disappoint. Design Days ran this year from September 28th to October 1st, 2017 at the Pavillon Sicli in Geneva. For design lovers, Design Days is a candy shop of cool, beautiful objects, furniture, fashion, jewellery, lifestyle products, and utilitarian gadgets. And one of the best parts is, unlike many showroom-style design events, most of the items here are actually for sale!
This year, as last year, the event had a focus on Swiss design. The Swiss Design Corner was definitely a highlight. It included 29 independent Swiss labels and was an awesome place to discover and support local design endeavors of all kinds. Some themes that we really loved were the products that focused on handmade and sustainable design.
Swiss Design Corner – This year, for the second time, Design Days will focus on Swiss know-how and present the exhibition “Swiss Design Corner”. Bringing together only brands made in Switzerland, this special exhibition unveils all the richness and diversity of Swiss design. Combining tradition and innovation, these design houses contribute daily to the development of Swiss heritage and culture. Coming from Romandie or beyond Sarine, these national actors present their creations to the French-speaking public for a long weekend.
As first-time visitors, we had a great time. There is so much to see and it is always an inspiration to see what other designers, in all design fields, are creating and producing. We definitely came back to the MF office with a bunch of new ideas popping out of our heads that we can’t wait to apply to upcoming projects. We’ve bookmarked the event for next year!
For an insider perspective on the event, our colleagues over at World Radio Switzerland interviewed Clara Jannet, the Design Days Event Coordinator. Have a listen to the podcast to hear what Clara has to say!
